This class will increase vocabulary, word usage, spelling, reading and writing skills. Students are required to memorize Latin and Greek prefixes, roots, and suffixes. They must also be able to use these in sentences of their own creation, indicating that they have mastered the information they have learned. Concepts that are taught in this class will increase scores on the required college entrance tests such as the ACT and the SAT and will help them achieve success in their high school and college classes.  This is a class which can be used for regular students who require no extra help in memorizing these concepts or it can be applied in classes for those struggling learners who have may have a higher level of difficulty in memorizing information.  Orton Gillingham techniques will be used in the Struggling Learner classes.  Understanding the meaning of words in the English language is a valuable skill which can be applied in every area of life.  A student will be able to obtain 1 high school credit for Affixes I and 1 high school credits for Affixes II.  Each class will take one school year to complete
