Crystal teaches online classes for True North Homeschool Academy.
Crystal Niehoff is an Army chaplain’s wife, mom of five, and grandma to five. In 2000, her family began their homeschooling journey, which Crystal now continues with her oldest granddaughter, Lexi.
Crystal is an avid researcher, history buff, amateur photographer, and self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur. Their family is currently stationed at Rock Island, Illinois, where they reside on the Iowa side of the Mississippi River.
Homeschooling since the year 2000, three of her children have graduated with the two youngest nearing high school graduation. She assists in home educating her oldest grandchild, who lives in Kansas, via the blessing of technology.
Crystal currently volunteers for Homeschool Iowa with marketing and social media. Over the years, she has taught classes in Creative Writing, Creation Science, Photography, and Public Speaking, as well as coordinated a large homeschool co-op. Crystal recently launched the History for Christian Teens podcast with her husband and co-host, Kevin, which can be found at historyforchristianteens.com.
Professional Degrees & Experience
Crystal studied Business Administration and Child Development at Neosho County Community College and Pittsburg State University.
Previously, Crystal was a child welfare worker before leaving her career to marry her husband who is on active duty in the military. She went on to become the owner and CEO of Army Wife Network and host of Army Wife Talk Radio until the end of 2019. During her time as AWTR
host, Crystal conducted many high-profile interviews, most notably, with Mrs. Karen Pence, then Second Lady of the United States.
Crystal additionally holds certifications as a Christian minister from Logos University and StillBirthDay birth and bereavement doula and chaplain.
Crystal has written extensively for both nonprofit and for-profit organizations, including The Old Schoolhouse Magazine®, TFI Family Services, Inc., CASA for Children, and Bethany Christian Services, through which she shares her expertise on homeschooling, parenting, foster care, and adoption. She is also a contributing writer of From Reveille to Retreat: The Journey of a Lifetime, published in 2015 by the United States Army.
