True North Homeschool Academy Teacher
Molly teaches knitting and crochet through True North Homeschool Academy.
Molly, has been referred to as the Knitty Professor. It started for her in 2003 and she just can’t seem to get enough. From the first knitted mittens to now feeding the sheep, shearing, processing the fluff, spinning, and knitting the sweater- she is hooked.
Established in 1998 the Golter family lives on a few acres in Oregon where they enjoy doing life together. They have quite a variety of animals on the farm that keeps them busy. They also enjoy horse camping in the summer, and being tucked in cozy in the winter.
They have homeschooled from the start with one graduated and two more in high school now. The past few years the homeschool style has changed a bit with online classes, but has led to some good discussions and still as much time together.
Molly has always tried to hold homeschooling with a loose hand, being open to options, and this still seems to be the best fit for their family.
As a teacher with dyslexia, she has learned what it takes to learn, that not everyone’s experience is the same, and that we can all benefit from a different perspective. When we jump into a study an enthusiastic teacher can make a nice difference.
Professional Degrees & Experience
In her knitting career she has taught many students to knit. She knows that this is a practice that feels so awkward to begin, but has so many benefits. She has turned her little hobby (where she intended just make handmade gifts) into a fiber business.
I have had the honor of working with Lisa Nehring over the course of many years, both as a colleague and as an instructor for my middle school child. She is well versed in the teaching of literature, composition, and writing to a variety of ages. Lisa clearly states objectives and offers realistic goals to her students. As a parent and home educator, she offered suggestions and guidance that were attainable and gave me the confidence to guide my child towards success. Lisa has years of experience and insight into a variety of educational strategies and programs. As a fellow educator and homeschooling parent, her expertise and encouragement are top-notch. We have had multiple opportunities to collaborate and for me (and my child) to benefit from her wisdom. Any student or parent who has the opportunity to work with Lisa will benefit and be equipped to move forward in their educational journey.
