Dance through the Movies – Elementary Edition!
This online class will explore different styles of dance through movies and films. Dance at the Movies – Elementary Edition will explore different styles of dance through movies and films and give your kids an amazing Physical Education, Elective or non-traditional History credit! Do you have a student that loves dance, can’t sit still, or just loves to watch musical theater? This unique class is sure to inspire your students to discover, move and learn!
Dance through the Movies will focus on dance styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, lyrical, and more! The primary focus is on unique dance styles for the purpose of exercise and exploration. There will be a large physical education emphasis in this class. The class will also provide an opportunity to choreograph short dances! Ultimately, this course aims to develop a baseline knowledge and enjoyment of dance, while pursuing physical health and exercise.
Dance is the Joy of Movement!
Assignments and Coursework
Dance through the Movies will include weekly assignments focusing on dancing and exercise. Each week there will be a “technique” video and a “combo” video that focuses on a different style of dance. The student is expected to complete the “technique” video on their own, and submit a video of themselves performing the combination taught in the “combo” video.
Weekly assignments will also include watching movie selections. Students will literally Dance through the Movies!
