Dance through the Movies- Elementary Edition

This online class will explore different styles of dance through movies and films.

The course will focus on dance styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, lyrical, and more! The primary focus is on unique dance styles for the purpose of exercise and exploration. There will be a large physical education emphasis in this class. The class will also provide an opportunity to choreograph short dances! Ultimately, this course aims to develop a baseline knowledge and enjoyment of dance, while pursuing physical health and exercise.

Assignments and Coursework

This course will include weekly assignments focusing on dancing and exercise. Each week there will be a “technique” video and a “combo” video that focuses on a different style of dance. The student is expected to complete the “technique” video on their own, and submit a video of themselves performing the combination taught in the “combo” video.

Weekly assignments will also include watching movie selections.
