The Introduction to Voice class introduces students to the anatomy of the voice, developing good practice routines, and beginning vocal techniques. This is a high school level course is designed for Junior and Senior High school students interested in developing their singing voice for pleasure or vocation.

Have you ever wanted to learn to sing, but weren’t sure where to start? Are you already a singer, but have never learned to train your voice? Introduction to Voice is the place to begin! By studying the anatomy of the voice, developing good practice routine’s and understanding beginner vocal techniques, you will learn to develop strong habits that you can apply to your creative pursuits.

Learning music is a meaningful and gratifying experience for students and is one of the universal languages. Music enhances learning skills helping students integrate the right and left side of the brain, maximizing memory, and improving retention rates.

Music Education improves soft skills such as communication skills, creativity, teamwork, discipline, cultural awareness, and respect for others. Lastly, music skills enhance self-esteem as students gain mastery and accomplish the ability to create something of beauty.

Introduction to Voice will give your students the benefits of knowing a musical instrument that they can take with them throughout life. Furthermore, singing is a social activity and one in which all ages and cultures can participate in! Introduction to Voice will give your student budding confidence to lead others in the time-honored tradition of singing, even as we live in a complex, digital age.


None: An understanding of basic writing skills & music is helpful, but not necessary.

Middle school or Junior High Students who want to be challenged may also join this high school level class.

This class would integrate well with our other online classes such as; Music Theory, Songwriting, Music at the Movies or Creative Writing for students considering a career in music or performance or for students needing to complete a Creative Arts or Humanities credit.
