Come discover Math beyond the textbook, Math that helps us make sense of ourselves and our world.  Real-world, hands-on Math for kids – and their grown-ups! This course will cover tessellations, symmetry, fractals, the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio (Phi: the most important number in the universe!), and much more.

Integrated Learning Experiences

We will study these topics through the lens of history, art, architecture, nature, science, math, and the world around us.

Through hands-on activities, math-based nature walks, writing prompts based on famous quotes and poems, tutorials for creating Math Art masterpieces, and plenty of conversation, we will dive deep into this “other side of Math” that is purely fascinating and entirely real-world.

Once we complete our study of Math Art we will continue exploring a few other strands of Math (such as Geometry, Probability, Statistics, Graphing, Math history, Finance, etc.) with a focus on seeing Math in the real world and having fun learning about it through hands-on activities, projects, games, and plenty of unique “beyond the textbook” explorations and activities that help kids see Math from a new, wonderful point of view.

These classes will be adapted to fit the dynamics and ability levels of the students in each class, with plenty of differentiation, personalization, and enrichment opportunities provided.
