This course provides instruction and experience in preparation and delivery of speeches within a public setting. Emphasis on research, preparation, delivery and evaluation of informative and persuasive speaking. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to prepare and deliver well-organized speeches and the interpersonal skills necessary to be effective communicators in an academic setting. Students wishing to compete in STOA sponsored competitions will be well prepared to compete in some of the following categories:

-Open Interpretation
-Duo Interpretation
-Humorous Interpretation
-Original Oratory
-Mars Hill Impromptu

Speech will meet twice a week with a Jared Burdick, National STOA Finalists. Students who wish to go to compete at STOA sponsored competitions will be well prepared by Mr. Burdick and True North Homeschool Academy staff. Cost of competition, travel and all related expenses are the responsibility of the family and are not included in the cost of the class.

This course would be perfectly paired with Debate and/ or Civics:Understanding the U.S. Constitution
