Description
U.S. History
U.S. History will cover from A.D. 1000 to the Present in 30 weekly units; five daily lessons per unit. Each weekly online class will provide both review and preview of the weekly units, through discussions, quizzes, and games. Assessments for U.S. History will include occasional tests, and overall grade will be determined by a combination of class participation, assignments completed, and test scores.
Studying history helps us understand and grapple with complex questions and dilemmas by examining how the past has shaped our country and how we interact as a country globally, nationally, and locally. Studying history will also help students understand how we develop relationships between societies and people. Given the complexities of our world, developing a thorough understanding of the foundation of this country will allow them to navigate those complexities with a more critical thought process.
U.S. History will be a dynamic, interactive class for Junior High students, giving them a well-rounded look at the United States. The text is specifically chosen to engage students as they lay a firm foundation for high school studies and for future success as a well-informed citizen.
Required Texts: The Story of the Thirteen Colonies & The Great Republic and 200 Questions about American History, and a Story of the World, Volume 4.

Grading scale: A = 90-100%; B = 80-89%; C =70-79%; D = 60-69%; F = 59% or less.
This class is also appropriate for 9th-grade students.
