Watercolor: This unique and fun one semester class is based on the classic Winnie the Pooh stories, taught by native English teacher and professional artist, Sally Stansfield, who grew up just miles from the 100 Acre Woods. Students will learn the basics of the beautiful and exciting medium of watercolor as well as the basics of English tea, all within the context of the beloved Winnie the Pooh stories.
While watercolor can feel like an intimidating medium, students will thrive under the experienced tutelage of Mrs. Stanfield. Students will be guided sequentially through the basics elements of successful watercolor technique including but not limited to:
- Color Panels
- Exercise Demos
- Building up color
- Creating gradients
- Getting precise
- Pen & Ink Techniques
- How to create a watercolor wash
- Color blending
- Lifting color
- Making Snow
This gentle introduction to the complexities of watercolor will be based on Winnie the Pooh, and students will be delighted to hear Mrs. Stansfield reading selections from this beloved classic, as well as share tidbits on how to have a proper English tea. Students will have the opportunity to learn to make an English scone, as well as fun and fascinating English tea etiquette.

Students will complete finished pen and ink and monochrome landscapes, color landscapes and a snow scene.
