Writing Skills 3: Ancient World
Writing Skills 3: Ancient World is designed for 3rd through 7th graders. This Elementary Writing class will teach your elementary students the structure of basic writing, as well as stylistic techniques, some grammar, vocabulary, and more!
In this class, we will dive into the spellbinding Ancient World and explore civilizations such as Sumer, Egypt, Israel, Greece, Rome, Asian Minor and discover the ideas, governments, traditions, and skills from that era. Students will read fun and fascinating time-honored stories that teach, delight, and entertain. Our text will be the Institute for Excellence in Ancient World-themed curriculum, from which we will learn to write skillfully with the Structure and Style® writing method.
Our class time will be devoted to reading each week’s reading passage and then working together to implement specific writing styles. As we learn how to better our writing, each student will be responsible for writing regularly based on the content and style learned in class. Students will have the opportunity to read their own writing in class, as well as listen and appreciate their classmates’ writing. We will learn how to best critique each other’s work in a positive manner and how we can improve our writing by working together.
Writing Skills 3: Ancient World will include English grammar instruction. This will be an important part of this class and students will solidify their understanding and usage of parts of speech, types of sentences, and much more!
This full-year course is best for students in 3rd through 7th grade who have mastered writing simple sentences on their own. The text includes vocabulary cards, literature suggestions, and access to helpful PDF downloads. Elementary Writing is a fun and inspiring class that will give your students the skills they need for future writing success!
